Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It utilizes natural body leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground and, as a result, provides greater position for striking or submission holds.
BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It can be trained for self defense, sport grappling (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts competition and has found its way into the training regiment of nearly every successful martial artist worldwide.
Children's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:
Grand Valley BJJ offers kids martial arts classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to help them gain higher levels of self confidence, higher levels of focus, better self discipline, excellent physical fitness, self defense, and eliminating bullying with our special BULLYStop Program! Our goal is to help each child reach their full potential through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes that they will love because of the fun, high energy classes!
Your child will develop into the Person that they were meant to be… they’ll be surrounded by positive, disciplined kids that will become their friends and peer group (positive peer pressure) while working on goal setting. Your child can become happier, healthier, and better equipped to succeed at home, in school, and in life!
Our children's programs are broken down into two class:
Little Ninjas: Ages 4 - 8
Children's BJJ: Ages 8 - Up
GFTeam is headed by Master Júlio César and having recently become one of the top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams in the world, Grappling Fight Team (GFT) formerly known as Universidade Gama Filho (UGF) has had great success in Brazil since the 1990’s, with the turn of the 2010’s decade, GFT was propelled to world wide success through a series of excellent results at an international level and the continuous production of high level fighters such as, Rodolfo Vieira, Ricardo Evangelista, Italo Lins, Denilson Pimenta, and many others.
